Buenos Aires, capital of the Argentine Republic, together with its metropolitan area
(Gran Buenos Aires) is the second biggest city in South America and one of the mayor urban centres of the world.

The city is also the most important cultural centre in Argentina and one of the main ones in Latin America. The greatest cultural offer is given by a big number of museums, theatres and libraries, being some of them the most important in the country. The academic activity is also very important, since some of the most important universities are placed in Buenos Aires.
Its language has a wide variety thanks to all the immigrants that have inhabited it along the history. An example of this is “lunfardo” (slang) that has idiomatic expressions coming from Italy, France, Galicia and Portugal, as well as the local black and “criolla” population. You can find “lunfardo” in the letters of the tango.

Argentine food is characterized by its excellent meat and it also has an Italian influence.

The weather of the city is wet and warm. The average temperature is of 17,6 ºC. The summers are warm with an average in January of 24,5 ºC. The winters are soft, with an average temperature in July of 11 ºC. Very rarely there are temperatures inferior to 0 ºC or superior to 35 ºC.
