The restoration of Recoleta's iconic work of art is taking place these days. Its designer, architect Eduardo Catalano, designed it as the wings of an aircraft, and it was manufactured at Lockheed Martin Aircraft Argentina in Córdoba. Therefore, an aeronautical engineer was hired to oversee the work, which has a budget of $1.4 billion. Since this is a restoration, the entire work is very delicate. The petal components had to be completely disassembled, repaired—including adding new parts—and then reassembled. It's a very challenging task. But luckily we are going to enjoy the flower with all its petals very soon in Buenos Aires.
