I invite you to explore some of our news about the city of Buenos Aires.

This building, called Cabildo, is located in Plaza de Mayo, opposite the Casa Rosada or Pink House. It was the home of the Spanish authorities. On May 25th 1810, people gathered in front of the Cabildo and sent the Viceroy of Spain back home. This was the first sign of Independence. Our final Independence came on July 9th 1816. Originally this building had 11 arches. Then May Avenue was built and they had to cut some arches on the right. Some years later some arches were cut on the left side too. Today it has 5 arches.
